Lennox Blog Question #2

How do you currently provide feedback and recognition? How might you use technology to enhance it?

I am going to try and have students post more projects to the dropboxes and then get a computer to attack it!

My posts don't seem to be posting.

Hand back their tests, quizzes, papers. Use the computer for students to look up their own results.

I put my contacts in backwards and saw my brain.

Feedback and recognition needs to be positive but but constructive.

Are you sure you saw your brain?

Does that really work...backwards contacts to see brain? That would help on a test!!!

I use the studentshare folder to distribute copies of powerpoints and study guides. For feedback on assignments I encourage students to track their grades online so that they are not surprised when grades are reported at the end of the quarter.

I currently type up grades with comments included. Grades and comments could be put in the student share folder but then they would not be confidential.

Take "s" off of NEEDS.

I would like to try the dropbox to the student share so the students are getting the response to projects etc.

The students can access their grades. They also put assignments into my drop box.

How about looking in someone elses brain? That should help.

I like to read student test answers outloud in a mocking tone to help them see the error of their ways.

the usual assessment tools, such as tests, quizzes, projects. Games are also a nice way to reinforce learning, as well as reflections.

I try to get assignments back as soon as possible, and based on the feedback I give, readjust the assignment to focus on problem areas.

have students fill in answers on tests for the ones they've gotten wrong, writing positive and negative feedback on papers, and giving oral comments.

I'll have students multi-vote on quality work of their peers and I will reward the students that were selected. Students seem to really enjoy this.

Written comments on work, campus, and good old fashioned verbal recognition.

Try to give detailed feedback on specific topics they are mastering or struggling on.
